Choice of new PM divides Egypt's political class
President Morsi's appointment of little-known Islamist and former irrigation minister Hisham Kandil as new prime minister proves controversial with politicians and activists
President Mohamed Morsi's decision on Tuesday to appoint Hisham Kandil as Egypt's new prime minister has provoked mixed reactions from the country's politicians and activists.
A former irrigation minister in the post-revolution governments of Esam Sharaf and Kamal El-Ganzouri, Kandil is an Islamist (WHO IS THIS ONE? HOW MANY WASTA DOES HE HAVE?) but not affiliated to any party or group. (…)
However, Khalil was more critical of the way Kandil was appointed than the choice itself.
"We need to know the criteria by which Kandil was chosen. We need more transparency."
Morsi should be transparent or "he will be following in Mubarak's footsteps, who took sudden and shocking decisions without providing explanations," Khalil added.

On the other hand, Essam Shiha of the liberal Wafd Party criticised Morsi's appointment of Kandil because the president had promised to appoint a non-Islamist as prime minister.

Moreover, Shiha said Egypt needs an economic expert in such a position, a qualification which Kandil lacks. (…)

The FJP, the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, is expected to hold 30 to 50 per cent of the positions in the new government (YES AND THE REMAINING WILL BE FOR THE ARMED ARM!), while the Brotherhood's deputy leader Khairat El-Shater (GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY! THE EVIL WILL BE IN THE NEW CABINET!) is expected to hold the economic portfolio and become deputy prime minister, according to media reports.

Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Hesham Mohamed Qandil is Egypt’s new prime minister, said the official Facebook page of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party Tuesday.
Qandil was a senior bureaucrat in the ministry until he was appointed minister in July last year when former Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's reshuffled the cabinet. (CERTAINLY, HE IS NOT A NEW FACE BUT A FACE OF THE OLD REGIME, EXACTLY LIKE THE MUSLIM BROTHERS!!)

The former irrigation minister’s beard has caused speculation of Islamist tendencies (NO!!! REALLY?). He denied any affiliation with Islamist groups when he told Al Jazeera his beard was grown in keeping with religious obligations.
Morsy had promised to choose a premier from outside the Brotherhood, and that his choice would form a unity government. His powers are unclear, as well as the military’s role in choosing appointments for top security portfolios.
Qandil graduated from Faculty of Engineering in 1984, and went on to earn his masters degree and Ph.D. from North Carolina University in the US in 1988 and 1993 (OK, NOW WE UNDERSTAND, ANOTHER US’S DECISION!). He joined the National Water Research Center, obtaining professorship.
From 1999 to 2005, Qandil worked in the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources. He took part in the Nile Basin initiative, and occupied several posts, such as the head of the Nile Sector in the African Development Bank.
Earlier on Tuesday, Vice President of the FJP Essam al-Erian said neither him nor party members have information about the new cabinet formation.
“Everyone accuses us that we will form the new government, but we don’t have further information than that available to everyone,” he added. (US IS GIVING ITS ORDERS DIRECTLY TO MORSI WITHOUT INFORMING HIS BROTHERS?? COME ON, THEY ARE A FAMILY!)
“Party members are angry about absence of information on the government,” Erian posted on Twitter. “Media claims that we will form the cabinet, but we are waiting for the president to declare the new prime minister.”
